About the Okefenokee Humane Society

The Okefenokee Humane Society has no Animal Control Officers which means we can’t come out and pick up ANY animals.

So, if you need an animal collected or picked up you have to call either the City or County depending on where the animal is located.

For the WARE County Codes Department please contact them on
912.287.4379 for all animal issues in the COUNTY.

For the City of WAYCROSS, please contact them on
912.287.2944 for all animal issues in the CITY.

If it’s outside of working hours, and it is an emergency, please dial 911.

Please note that we only accept animals from Ware County, so if you wish to surrender an animal you must make an appointment to do so. Please call our office on 912 283 4214.

ohslogo250Our Mission
The Okefenokee Humane Society has been dedicated to second chances. We provide a safe and caring haven to all animals in need – large and small – that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Our mission is to end the cycle of abuse and pet overpopulation through our rescue and investigation efforts, spay/neuter programs and educational classes. We are committed to creating lasting relationships between people and animals through our adoption programs. The animals thank you for your support.
